winnerContest Winner: My Matza Ball Soup Tradition

For nearly 20 years I have been using Chukar Cherries whenever I make matza ball soup to celebrate a holiday or family occasion. My tradition is to randomly enclose one of your dried cherries in a small quantity of the 30-40 matza balls I am making, and then those persons who find a cherry in their matza ball are asked to share a family memory or story about a past holiday or family gathering. It has added additional warmth and laughter to our celebrations, and several of the grown children are now including in their family gatherings when they are not able to join us. -Eve D. & several Generations of Chukar Cherry Lovers

Hiding the Crime

As a true connoisseur of caramel corn, I can say without hesitation that your Cherry Pecan Caramel Corn is the best I have ever had. In fact, it is so delicious it ought to be illegal! It might even qualify as the 8th deadly sin! So I don’t know if this should really count as my favorite Chukar Cherry moment, because the first time I ordered it, I almost ate the whole jar myself. Actually, I did eat the whole jar myself. I tried really hard to save some for my husband, but I just couldn’t help myself. When he asked me where it was, I had to say, “What Caramel Corn?” If I didn’t love you so much, I would hate you for inventing it, but maybe if you send me some more, I could try again and you could make an honest woman out of me? P.S. I would send pictures, but I was trying to hide the crime. -Irene M.

Seattle Sweet Spot

I first got Chukar Cherries at Pike Place Market in Seattle, in 1997 when I was there for the Nebraska-Washington football game. I got 4 different kinds of the chocolate cherries, and enjoyed every one of them. Now, any time I know of someone who is going to Seattle, I ask them to get me some. I most recently got some last October, when I was in Seattle for the Nebraska-Washington volleyball game, and we went to Pike Place Market. On occasion, I do order online, or ask for them at Christmas. One year my niece ordered some for me. They are wonderful—whenever I get the chance, I tell others about them as well. Thank you! -Lennae S.

Mother’s Sweetest Gift

My mom loves chocolate covered cherries. I used to buy them for her every Mother's Day. Years ago, I came across Chukar Cherries after reading a catalogue I found in a doctor's office. I ordered some for her and she could not stop telling me how much she loved them. My orders for more cherries grew from Mother's Day to Christmas to Valentine's Day to New Year's Day to her birthday. I also started ordering items other than cherries. She especially loves the sour cherry jam that she has for breakfast. I recently joined the list of customers when I ordered some vanilla almonds. I have passed off your catalogues to friends and family. What started as a one-time purchase has grown into several family purchases a year. Nice customer service, quick responses from staff to any questions I may have, the use of absolutely the highest quality ingredients and the absolute best cherries in the world has kept me purchasing for years and will continue for many more. Thank you for your product and thank you for giving my mother an occasional "little bit of heaven". -Randy C.

Gifts from the Pacific Northwest

It was the second day of my new job. Out of the blue, I got an e-mail with the subject line "invited lecture in Taiwan". What?? Is this for real? Someone on the far side of the earth is interested in my research on ocean literacy and marine education? Will I be able to go? Who will cover my work here? How will this all work? The one question I didn't even need to ask was: what gifts should I take for my hosts? Chukar Cherries, of course, the most delicious regional treat on the West Coast. Both my talk and the treats were well received in Taiwan. -Cynthia C.

Sweet Sleep Solution

My first experience with Chukar cherries came after I was telling my daughter the doctor about how hard it is for me to stay asleep. She thought that I could benefit from the natural properties of cherries that aid in good sleep, and gifted me a bundle of Chukar cherry products. Besides being delicious, they did what she suspected they would do, and have greatly improved my sleep. This is my love story to my daughter and to Chukar Cherries. -Helen A.

Alaska Cruise Memories

Chukar cherries will always remind me of our 45th wedding anniversary Alaska cruise in 2017. I found your dark chocolate covered cherries in the commissary and bought a bag. After eating them, I went every day and bought—and ATE—a whole bag by myself every day thereafter! OK, I did buy a couple of bags for my husband too. The Alaskan Inner Passage cruise was great, and your dark chocolate covered cherries made it wonderful. Each time I eat them, Alaskan cruise memories pop into my head, so thank you for the cherries AND the memories. -Janet J.

Passing on the Love

I'll never forget the first time I discovered Chukar Cherries. It was 2015 and I was on a trip with my nephew Travis in Seattle. We stopped at Pike Place Market and I stumbled across the booth. I avoid fake food colors and saw that you use real fruit and vegetables for any added coloring in the chocolate covered cherries. I indulged in your chocolate covered cherries at the market and brought home a bunch to Texas. The only chocolate covered cherries I had seen were made with fake red and pink food colorings that are not healthy to eat. We love your cherries, pie fillings and more and have even bought them as gifts for friends and family. Now, we place a big order each fall to keep us stocked (because we can't get chocolates shipped in the summer time). We often make cherry crisp with the Sweet Cherry Pie Filling. Thank you for using such quality and fresh ingredients. Keep it up, Chukar Cherry. -Rachel A.

A few years ago I took a trip to the Pacific Northwest. which included a stay in Seattle.  The highlight of our food tour of Pike's Place Market was a stop at Chukar Cherries, which included some free samples. That was enough to get me hooked on the delicious chocolate covered cherries, and I've been ordering them online ever since!! -Susan G.
My wife and I had never tried Chukar Cherries until one year we found ourselves driving thru Prosser Washington. The store looked inviting from the outside and being fans of things sweet, we stopped in. The lady at the counter was extremely nice and helpful in educating us on Chukar not to mention giving us free samples. Needless to say we left with a multitude of different bags with all kinds of cherry goodness inside each. Great cherries and great people. -Tom G.
The first time we purchased Chukar Cherries at the Market was when our son moved from New Jersey to Seattle fifteen years ago. He has since married and has a two year old son, our precious grandson, with his beautiful and wonderful wife. My husband and I visit three to four times a year to spend time with our family. Each visit includes a trip to Pike's Market to purchase cherries for our family and friends back home. It has become a tradition that is enjoyed and appreciated by all. We look for ward to many more years of watching our grandson grow up, and of course, many more trips to the Market for cherries. -Deborah C.
Coming home from visiting your company in Washington. We brought home some treats for the family. The one who enjoyed them the most was our granddaughter! We got lots of hugs for this! -Linda S.
It was a 30th wedding anniversary on May 20th, 2025, so I gave my husband a gift of Chukar Triple Cherries container.  He was surprised and thrilled.  Now he is planning how to prepare many desserts with their unique flavors! -Michael M.

I remember making Chukar cherry white chocolate and dark chocolate chip cookies. They were delicious! -Cynthia W.
My Chukar Cherries were special delivery on Mother’s Day by my Daughter Vionnette who traveled from Richland, WA to Houston IAH Bush International via Delta as a surprise gift for Mother’s Day. -Dee D.
One of my best memories isn't just with the contents of one of the large, clear-plastic jars, but with the jar itself after empty! I have been working with grandchildren, teaching them how to knit or crochet, and it seems the yarn ball always wants to make a quick escape. By putting the ball in one of the cleaned clear jars, the yarn stays where one wants it, and it's fun to watch the ball dance a bit as the yarn is pulled. Plus, if the project being worked on is small enough, one can tuck it into the jar and keep everything easily together! Nice to have the mixes to munch on as we work together, but also fun to have that yarn corralled, too! -Karin L.
Father's Day tradition! My husband gets a Big Jar every year and it is his favorite gift. Thank you for your delicious cherries! -Elizabeth G.
Just a note to say that the Chukar chocolate cherries order we received was perfect. We gifted two different assortments of your cherries to a local executive chef for his birthday. He later told us he shared them with his sister who was visiting from Austria. Before we gave him his gift, we sampled our order to be sure it was up to our standards. It exceeded them! That’s when we knew this would be a perfect gift for someone who has discerning taste when it comes to food, especially desserts (he started out as a pastry chef). Thank you so much for your prompt delivery and attention to details when packing our order. -Annette & Glenn W.
My first memory was purchasing chocolate covered cherries at Seattle Pike Place Market on a vacation to visit friends in 2014.  Then when back in Washington for a family friends son's wedding in 2023, the welcome gift was a Chukar Gift Box! -Catherine K.
It has been a few decades, but I remember the first time trying a Chukar chocolate covered cherry. We were bringing out of town guests to the Pike Place Market and wandered near your stall. Intrigued by the free samples, we tried them and were amazed by the delicious flavor combination of intense cherry and chocolate. Since then, we have had numerous bags of dried cherries, chocolate covered cherries, jars of cherry preserves, and enjoy lovely cherry ceramic bowls in our cabinet. We've passed on the tradition to our children, and they've given away several gift boxes and baskets to friends and family. We love introducing others to these amazing cherries. Whenever we visit the PNW, we try to stop by the Market or Bartells to pick up more of your cherries. We love your products and look forward to many more years of Chukar Cherries! -Linda H.
My favorite memory is from many years ago when I was visiting my daughter in Seattle and we went to Pike's Place Market.  It was the very first time I became aware of Chukar Cherries and after sampling, ended up buying quite a bit to take home for me and to share with friends, but mostly for me. -Lynne Z.
We moved to Prosser in 2016, and quickly became quite hooked on the dark chocolate/Chukar Cherries, plus loved sharing with friends as gifts. We moved back to Omaha in 2020, and have continued to order for special treats. I have many wonderful memories of our time in Prosser, with one of the very best being Chukar Cherries. -Heidi R.
I have always loved Rainier Cherries and I wait for them to come into season yearly in our grocery stores. When I discovered that you dehydrate Rainier Cherries, I decided to try them and I have been hooked ever since! We will be out to Seattle WA in June and I cannot wait to see you all in Pike's Market. -Marilyn S.
My father loved to visit Chucker Cherries in Prosser and when my family would visit a trip was a must. Unfortunately my dad’s favorite thing to do was fill his pockets with free samples! My husband and I would tell him to stop but he’d just continue to do it. When he lost his sight, he’d still want to visit and tried to talk the grandchildren into helping him. Of course at that time, Chukar Cherries handed out samples instead of having them out. We always told my dad it was his fault that samples were given one at a time. We did make sure that dad got his favorites at Christmas and his birthday until he passed. -Kelly J.
Chukar Cherries have been near and dear to my heart. I started working for a family owned business right after college and Chukar Cherries were the gift of choice every year (since 2005) for business purposes, birthdays, baby showers, anniversaries and every day thank yous.  I am privileged to have shared in the memories of some of the wonderful folk who have worked at chukar over the years.  We've talked about our families, business and what an honor it is to get older and still be around to share stories. You see, it's not just about chocolate and cherries, it is the deeper appreciation of the person behind the order, both on my side as the customer and on Chukar's side, the amazing crew who makes it happen. I love Chukar cherries so much that when I travelled to Seattle, I took my then boyfriend, now husband and father of my son to visit the Pike Place market store.  Chukar is my 5 year old's favorite treat. He has an appreciation for dark chocolate thanks to you! While I would like to say that there is one memory that aligns with Chukar, I truly cannot because I have so many memories and reminders daily of how much I love this brand, the quality, consistency and kindness that this company has represents.  Thanks for keeping it kind, the Chukar way. -Iram M
We order Chukar cherries every Xmas and valentines. Our daughter who resides in Portland or expects delivery for each holiday. She will get her order from us delivered immediately while we wait for our delivery in Maryland. As usual, she has eaten hers and wants more when we talk…..I told her to move back to Maryland so we can enjoy together. -Pat B.
My 99 year old Mom recently passed away.  When she was moved to a skilled nursing facility, she was not happy until I brought her a bag of chocolate covered Chukar Cherries. She couldn’t believe how delicious they were. It made her so happy.  When my son, daughter in law and grandchildren, who live in Seattle,  went to visit her , they brought her the Chukar Cherries.  What a smile that brought to her face. I will not forget how your chocolate covered cherries made a difference in someone’s life. -Andrea W.
I think it was Mother's day or my birthday and my daughter had ordered your cherries and with one bite I thought I died and went to heaven. Your cherries are the best. -Kathy E.
I’m new to Chukar Cherries and got my first package of milk chocolate cherries a week ago . They are so good that I must limit myself to 2 a day to keep from eating the whole bag. -Lauren K.
We discovered Chukar Cherries when traveling to Seattle in 2003, on a tour of Evergreen State College in Olympia with our son. We were entranced by the Pike Place market and Chukar Cherries, where we bought gifts to bring back from our trip. Since then, we turn to Chukar Cherries when we need special and unique gifts for family and friends, and we love browsing the catalogs. -T. family
