Good-Bye Summer 2020
It’s now the end of September, but this year everything feels different—enhanced, more intense, fast.
Cherry harvest was late this summer and extended well into July—weeks longer than normal. August was full of anticipation and action. Our team was in a flurry of activity, making way for the 2020 holiday season, hiring, training, and taking long-needed R&R breaks. As an added layer, Chukar team members with children were nervously prepping for the start of virtual school.
Then the California-Oregon-Washington forest fires raced through our beloved forests bringing charred destruction, smoky black skies, and dread. Slowly the skies cleared. Hops were harvested, apples picked, concord grapes and wine grapes brought in. And suddenly fall arrived with crisp mornings, clear skies and vibrant color creeping into the trees.

Everything seems to be moving faster now that it’s fall. Perhaps it’s the pressure of the upcoming election. Please vote. Chukar Cherries is making it easy for the Chukar Team to register to vote. In our daily meetings we discuss the important of voting, provide voter registration forms, and offer assistance if needed.
On a lighter note, at Chukar, getting dressed for the holidays is a very big deal. We dress CHUKAR.COM with autumn and then holiday gifts. We dress Chukar’s flagship store on Wine Country Road in Prosser and Chukar in Seattle’s Pike Place Market. The Chukar bird dons a Santa hat. Chukar’s brick and mortar stores are decorated with garlands of greenery, white twinkle lights, red wood cherry clusters, and red ribbon in abundance. Here’s to the transition from a challenging summer to a rich and festive holiday season. We’re optimistic and hope you are, too.
We think you’re going to like what we’ve been up to…
Our creative team is genuinely excited to introduce all new gift collections this year including…
- Washington wine & chocolate collections (we’ve been wanting to do this for years!)
- Home-spun baking kits
- New Grand & Sumptuous Chocolate Assortments (A LOT of chocolate)
Thank You for being a friend of Chukar. Our team has worked together this year to make it through the layers of challenges. We’ve had to identify what we can improve, what needs to go, how best to keep our customers, and how to gain new customers—and all this within a few months.
Chukar Cherries in Pike Place Market is up and running but local visitors and tourism is at a crawl. It may take years of sound city management to bring life back to Seattle’s downtown and Pike Place Market. COVID-19 hit small businesses hardest—especially those with a tourism element. We’re committed to continuing to do things the Chukar way—never slacking on quality and treating our employees right. But this year has taken a serious toll. Please make an extra effort this holiday season to spend your dollars locally—where they’re needed and where they count for your community.
