Clean Ingredients and Nothing Artificial
Chukar started with a single product—dried Bing cherries dried with no added ingredients. We sold the natural morsels in small kraft boxes illustrated with a hand drawn Chukar bird.
It didn’t take long to realize that our dried cherries could be combined with other quality ingredients to create standout trail mix and confections. However, we knew that if we added other products to our line, we needed to find ingredients that were as good as our cherries.
Here are the touchstones that have guided our ingredient sourcing from the beginning. All items must be:
- Free of preservatives
- Free of artificial ingredients, including color dye
- Domestically sourced whenever possible
- Use minimal ingredients (no cheap fillers)
To this day Chukar uses fruits & nuts grown on family farms and 100% natural ingredients for which the manufacturer can be vetted. Chukar’s factory operations are certified by KOF-K, a highly regarded kosher certification which provides an extra layer of operational oversight.
As organic cherry production increases in our region, we’ve also added a USDA Certified Organic cherry product line. Most importantly, we craft most everything we sell in our factory headquarters in the rural town of Prosser, WA. Keeping our manufacturing local means that our family and committed team is involved in every step of the process.
